Just got this via an outside channel:

===
Dan: I am trying to register on slantsix.org, but it keeps telling me that Wamego, Kansas is an incorrect answer to "In what town was Chrysler's founder born?"

Help please! lol

Did he just try to input "Wamego" without the state and see if that worked since it asked for
a city not the state or county?

No trick, Walter P Chrysler was born in Wamego, Kansas... it's easy to dig that one up via wikipedia
or a general web search...and keeps the spam bots at bay...

Dude's screen name is MarPar. Answer 1 from him:
============
"I did various combinations including putting just Wamego. I'll try it again now and report back.
============

Answer 2 from him:

"I just registered and it appears that it took. But now I try and login and it tells me that my user name is inactive. See attachments below."

I remember specifically activating this user.

If he was expecting the account to turn on instantly, that doesn't happen. New users need to wait for me to:

A. Wake up.
B. Wander in from the shop/Work/afternoon walk,
C. Get online.

This is not automated. Too many Cell Phone salesmen and Viagra peddlers were getting through. We have to change the question now and then, as the hackers figure the answers out.

Q: If a train leaves Wamego at 4:45 pm on Wednesday traveling at 225 degrees magnetic, when will it arrive in Athens, assuming it accelerates constantly at .06 ft/sec/sec, remains within the standard limit, and no-one throws anything out of the passenger car window on the left side of the train?
A: Your a nut case.

Think that will work?

Hope that helps explain what's happening.

CJ

Correct answer; "You're" a nut case. :P

Sorry, couldn't resist that one. :lol:

Yeah, he's in. It's been so long since I registered for this board that even if I remembered what the process was, I'm sure it's not the same now.

As far as the story problem anti-spam challenge goes, I propose:

Q: If water flows into the 42-gallon bath tub at 2.73 gallons per minute with the valve turned all the way Cold and 1.98 gallons per minute with the valve turned all the way Hot, and out the drain at 1.13 gallons per minute, how long will the tub take to fill with the valve 10 per cent closer to Hot than to Cold?

A: Turn off the water. Find and fix what's restricting the hot water. Clean the drain—and close it before trying to fill the tub.
