Glad to see this back on the board.

Mr. Zilla, you got your set from anyone on the board?
I am looking for a set.

Misunderstood a previous post.
I guess a friend bought them and then they changed hands.

Still Looking.

hello rick did this project ever get off of the ground new to the site but not sl6

I did a lot of leg work and information gathering but parked the project when I traded the a manifolds to my son for the triple Webers on my race car now.

I will say this though, he would like to have some made, but that doesn't mean it will ever happen. He has handed them off to his neighbor who has some of the skills needed to make it happen. He is looking at them now I think.

I also talked to Mike Sargent a couple years back and it sounded like he was moving ahead with some definite plans to do some. However I haven't heard anything front him in a long while.

thanks for the reply rick - i work for ap exhaust, and we sell a line of replacements for many manifolds. they are made in china (i know) - i can at least get some info on the process and costs. how many sets do you feel would be realistic as a order? back in the 80s i sold rearend storage cans door to door to nascar teams and stopped by pettys about every 2 months - hanging on the prep shop wall were 2 complete hyperpak sets with air boxes - i never thought to ask mr inman what he would take for them.

Makes sense that the Petty's would have some, they ran at least 2 cars in the original series at Daytona.
Let me call Richard...

I have spoken with Mike Sargent recently.
He took his manifolds to AussieSpeed on a trip to OZ and left them there.
I spoke with Mark Monopoli at AussieSpeed about the project and he didn't say he was going to do them.
He said he doesn't know who or how many would purchase them.
Mike Sargent said he wants to get them back, but isn't having any luck with Mark.

I told Ryan I was good for 1 set of reproduction manifolds.
So that is where I am at on the deal.

would aussie speed give a better response if a prebuy number was given? the old thread indicated about 30 sets with a 600.00 guess on cost - talks cheap - how many would commit to a real buy? casting in the us would solve alot of problems. if i could ask intelligent questions i could contact a foundry in my area - im out recouping from back surgery for 4 more weeks.

IMO AussieSpeed would be competition with their own product.
The Dutra Duals might lend themselves to a turbo system.
I would be curious to the number of Dutra manifolds sold by Doug and AussieSpeed.
I have one of the rear Dutra's in my garage.

I want a set to replace the set I sold and to go with my Hyper Pak intake.
They bolt together with that intake.
They don't bolt together with any other intake.
They don't have exhaust heat provisions.
But Dutra's don't do either of those either.

Lots to consider for a business case.

Nice that you have one of the "Pre-Aussie" Dutra manifolds... nostalgia.
AussieSpeed has done a great job picking-up that project and keeping it "alive & well".
Much better then Clifford... who let my Hyper-Pak reproduced intake manifold project "die".

Anyway...
I built the Dutra Dual casting equipment in 1989, as a college class project! (30+ years ago)
Made close to 1000 units before the casting equipment went "down-under".
I do not know how many Aussie has made but it still looks pretty popular. I just installed a set from AS on an engine I built for someone.

Groan. That sounds like an almost sure-fire recipe for Cream of Lost and Gone Forever Soup. :-(

Not necessarly. I lent Mark two sets of Clifford early "A' long tube headers (170 and 225), to copy. Took forever to get them back, but they did come home.

hey old timers ,do you think are there enough real buyers to support a project like this or mostly talkers. my guess is 40/50 people would be needed to commit to buy to make it work at a realistic cost. dd do you have a guess at retool for the intake? i know as has that market well in hand , but several people say they want a hyperpak repo. also, how the hell do i get to parts for sale, keep being told i need an app -sucks being technologically challenged and old

I have tried to get the tooling back from Larry M. (Clifford) but all I get is a "song-and-dance" about how I need to send $$$$ and wait until he has enough orders so he can run more...
Said he would sell me manifolds "at cost" if I pay up-front and buy 20 or more.
