So our damper is still not here, the fuel pump in order is wrong and we still have a bunch of other details to iron our before dropping the newly rebuilt slant back in....

Working on the exhaust manifold today we found that the one tang on the flapper spring is broke....it serves to position the flapper for cold operation and , we assume, as the spring gets heated it opens up to the other tang. AKA the heat riser valve.

In the picture below u can see the cold tang is gone.

Can the spring be replaced?

Looks like the flap is welded to tge pivot rod....
