Real race cars use electric pumps from agricultural sprayers.

Yeah but this one was on my sons truck, not my race car. :D

Three water pumps in a row? Something ain't right. Radiator system pressure? Too much tension on fan belt? Impeller in wrong on new ones? Good luck, this is a real mystery. Please post what the problem was when you get it fixed.

looks like a "common assembly plant" run of bad pumps, no matter what brand was on the respective box. That seal is on wrong side of spring behind the impeller.
Whoever showed that guy how to do it showed him wrong, and he assembled a whole run of them wrongly.

I had a similar issue with 318 mechanical fuel pumps. No matter whose box they were in, the arm had two much free play, and would not pump enough fuel. I manage to get one to work by heating the arm and bending it slightly. Then about a year later, bought another new pump, and it was OK. No free play in the arm, and I was able to pass at highway speed, without fuel starvation.
All praise quality control

Nope, I pulled a used pump off my back up engine and installed it and it has not given us any problems.

No, You DID solve it, & it's bullsh*t to think multiple failures can't possibly be all bad pumps...Oh yes they can, & are from what I'm seeing in those pics. I told this on FABO, but I put a new TRW pump on version #1 of My "Killer6", & it took a premature dump on Me. The store did not have another to exchange it, but had a "rebuilt" one they'd give if I was OK with it. I was in a jam, so on it went, Furd blue paint, pitted/blasted impeller blades & all. Lasted 8yrs thru' version #2, 7K wings, pooploads of burnouts & beatings over tens of thousands miles, still on the engine on the stand now,...almost 33yrs later..lol! There's no tellin'....

I find myself pulling more parts out of a junkyard that in past years I didn't think was "worth it". I seem to get the same life (sometimes better) out of unknown quality JY sourced parts vs buying new or reman from the parts stores these days. what new parts I do buy/ I try and get "old school brands" in old looking packaging via Ebay. no warranty worth going thru the hoops but for the most part that hasnt been an issue buying parts that way.
