No idea what R. Holdner has planned, but he mentioned intakes... and a turbo. I wonder if he would do a cam swap or something beyond intakes and headers. I suppose it depends upon what he has for parts access.

I've offered Richard the opportunity to test different intakes, long tube headers and more, but never got a response. Maybe now he'll be more interested?

I wish that for once the engine builder and tester would come on this board and ask people what actually works instead of just using whatever parts companies give them.

If you've got something you would like to see tested, why not give it a shot. I believe he mentioned a while ago about a change in employment, and having more time now...

Agreed. Although the fella's in the publishing industry probably don't have the time/interest to go all that deep into each particular engine family... They just gotta produce something to keep the lights on. .

Richard responded to my request that he test the Hyper-Pak intake by asking if I had one. I sent him a direct email offering the manifold and advice so maybe we get a comparison that includes the Hyper-Pak. Fingers crossed!

Nice work Josh.

Now someone should go Lou style with this one too.

Test everything else. Offy 4 v, offy 3x 1 bbl, doe 45's etc.

Where is the guy who does the dyno tests located?

Greg

Two hours and 44 minutes?
WOW, going to have to break that up in a bunch of pieces.

Richard Holdener does his testing at Westech Performance which is East of LA near Ontario, CA. I've watched quite a number of his videos and he boosts everything. He shows the effects of short and long runner intake manifolds, stock exhaust manifolds and long tube headers, pump gas or E85. His usual path is to test a stock engine, do some meaningful upgrades (sometimes in many stages to show the incremental changes) to improve the naturally aspirated power and then boost it. He's got himself a complete Super Six so if it's a runner I'll bet we'll get to see what it makes stock on the dyno before he tears into it.

I don't watch the live streams. I value my time more than that.

News flash!

I spoke with Richard Holdener for over an hour this morning. If you watched the linked video you'll see he has a complete Super Six. Says it may have a miss. I told him to lash the valves before doing anything else.

Richard wants to show his viewers progressive, logical upgrades that are suitable for street use including:

Dyno results for a 1 bbl engine
Dyno results for a 2 bbl engine
Upgrade the engine with a mild cam and head milling for compression. It may also get big valves at this point, but maybe that happens later. I told him go straight to a cam with around 220° duration at .050" and not to mess around with anything less.
Dyno results for a 4 bbl engine with a cam.
Dyno test triple Webers.
Dyno results for a Hyper-Pak intake.
Boost! He wants EFI for good fuel control. Almost certainly a turbo and maybe the TorqueStorm centrifugal blower.

I thought I had a Hyper-Pak intake to loan him, but the manifold's owner wants it back pretty soon. Does anyone want to make their Hyper-Pak YouTube famous?

Richard is willing to work with loaner parts and return them so this is a good opportunity for real A-B testing.

Any updates on the testing?

I might be late to the party, but if he needs a 4-barrel intake, I have a Clifford that I won't be using for a while.

Hopefully he'll be testing the EFI setup NA before adding boost?

No, Richard quit calling and hasn't reached out at all. Last I knew the cylinder head was out for repair.
