I am having my Slant Six rebuilt and my engine builder/machine shop just recommended to me to replace the Rocker Shaft. I have been searching and can not seem to find a replacement/new Rocker shaft. Any input/direction on this would be greatly appreciated. I did call Melling and they do not make one. Thank you in advance. Love this Forum.

Sounds like they don't want to clean yours.
Simple to knock the plugs out of the ends and run some cleaning brushes through it.
New plugs from an auto parts store.
Unless it is worn by the rockers, in which case you need a new assembly.

Yes, I asked him and he said that he is going to knock the plugs out and clean it. The inside of my engine was really dirty. He did say that once it was clean he would take a look for wear.

Are you using adjustable rocker arms, or non adjustable arms? The shafts are different.

Was planning on using the stock rockers as long as there was no damage or excessive wear. SlantSix Dan here on the forum was saying that the rocker shaft usually does not wear. I am hoping that once it is cleaned it will be ok. I was just thinking of getting a new one if they are available. But like a lot of other parts I can not seem to locate a Rocker Shaft.

Both type rockers are stock. It depends on the year of the engine. I have some rocker arms and shafts, but need to know what type are needed.
