1. When ordering from Aussie Speed, is it better to order from the Australia Website or the USA Website or is there any difference?

2. I am leaning towards the Aussie Speed Short Runner Two Piece Intake that can run either a 4 barrel or 2 barrel carb. Does anyone know if the two barrel carb plate can be oriented either way (parallel or perpendicular to the motor)? It seems to me that the parallel orientation would be best for Weber 38/38 because of better orientation to #1 and #6 cylinder, but the pictures show the orientation the other direction.

Thanks All for your help!

Check with Gill Welding.

They might have your intake in stock.

Yes, I would work through Gill Welding. Really, it will not matter which way the carb sits. Do what is easy for the linkages. I have done both with a few different 2bbl carbs and any differences are minimal.

Can you tell us more about your build and desired use and performance (street duty, cruising, HP, dragstrip times, MPG.....)?

I would recommend the long runner intake for street duty and not a high HP application, but it would help discuss your buildup to make the right choice.

Hey Lou,

The build is a 1984 Dodge D150 Short Bed. The intent is a solid street truck that will keep up with modern traffic, so maybe 180 HP / 280 FT-LBS if possible. Not a drag truck by any means. Naturally Aspirated, deck the block a bit, pistons 0.40 over, maybe a mild Oregon Cam at the most, HEI Ignition.

I really do like the long runner manifold and the extra torque that it provides. My concerns with the long runner was a possible conflict for space with my AC Compressor - but maybe it would squeak by and fit. Also concerned with the long runner having the carb box not on top of the rear modified exhaust box (with front Dutra). I was hoping to not have to do the coolant heated box underneath.

Thanks, Craig

I run my truck year round in PA without any heat under the intake. Weiand intake and Headers with a 500 carb. It is not bad at all, unless you demand modern fuel injection type running.

You should not need carb/manifold heat living in Wilmington, NC. I have only run it a few times and thought it was not worth it. If long runner will clear the AC, then I'd go with that. Especially great in a truck app.
