That's good to know, and looking forward to seeing the drawing! The eyebrow is smallish and the valve relief appears to be more volume than the quench pad dome. Math may be off, but the compression height is .075 higher than a stock piston and assuming head/deck haven't been cut aggressively the pistons should yield lower than 9.8 compression ratio, shouldn't they?

You may have to do a little milling on head or block to get just the CR you want. Most of time you'll want to take at least 0.010" off the head and the block, and that will get you 0.2 CR points or more. No shop would balk if you said take 0.020" of head and/or block, and really the limits are huge (0.100" at least of each head and block is safe).

I would rather err on the low side for CR from the piston and then adjust with the block and head. There are many ways to skin a goose...

Lou

Curious if order has been officially placed yet? I pulled my motor over the weekend to paint engine bay and start install of Torqstorm... trying to decide if I want to tear into the block at this point, or save that for next winter if we expect pistons to be a while yet...

Hi Rich and all,

The holidays have backed things up, apparently. We expect a detailed quote and contract soon for the order. I should know more about timing at that point. I'll keep you updated!

Happy New Year,

Lou

Dear All,

I am about to place the order for 18 sets of Slant 6 pistons based on the orders from this site, and from others involved.

Anyone who has not sent me a deposit needs to do this in the next 2-3 days. Last call! I doubt I/we will ever do this again...

Thanks and all the best,
Lou Madsen

Thanks, Lou! Are they going to provide detailed specs or a drawing before shipping?

Dear Slant 6 piston aficionados...

I have just put down a 50% deposit on 19 sets (114) of Slant 6 forged pistons. It could take a while, but I know we all are patient... Thank you all (who ordered) for providing feedback and deposits.

I now have a drawing and will post it once I can remove some identifying info from the piston company personnel... Sorry for the delay.

Best,
Lou

Sweetness! I'm doing the torqstorm and sniper now but decided to leave the bottom end for next winter after these come in. Looking forward to it!

Dear piston group buyers,

I have heard that the piston production date is slated for 3/22/24. Earlier than I expected. Fingers crossed this will happen roughly on that time schedule. Please start thinking about getting the rest of your payment in order so I do not have to carry too much of the second half of the buy for too long.

Thanks again and happy Slanting...

Lou

The rings are metric ring pack for a 2.2L Mopar. Some other engines use same pack. 1.5 mm top and 2nd ring and 4.0 mm oil rings. Mahle and others have them on the shelf. Hastings has them backordered but should have a batch soon from what I hear.

Does someone want to do a group buy/order for rings?

All the best,
Lou

The hastings rings for stock rebuilds have been spot on for the last few sets that I built using Slant 6 pistons and rings!

I'd be in for a ring group buy too if there's interest.
