Yea that was me I put to much gear in it and hurt the engine some. Also had a tiny oil leak come in the oil pan gasket, not enough to drip hardly at all but at top end some went on the header. Some makes a lot of smoke.

Thanks for the complement it's a good old car.
Starsky and hutch stripe.

Bobby,

Sorry I didn't get to meet you in person, but I also had a great time at the race (blue '68 Dart). I'm out of Chapel Hill, NC now and I plan to be back next year!

Cheers,

Lou Madsen

Lou, was your car the Blue 4 door car under the tree? Did I see Calif plates on the car?
OK, now I remember, you are the transplated Calif guy with the car that was in Hot Rod or Car Craft.
I was hoping to see the magazine car also.
Thanks for coming.

Once again, a wonderful show Bobby! Even though the weather was miserable and I got my butt kicked six ways from Sunday, I still had a good time. Being the trouble maker that I am, is there any way you could move the race earlier or later so it wouldn't be so miserably hot? I'm glad I got to see the Demon too. That is one gorgeous car! Thanks again! Dennis

Bobby,

Yep, that was me under the tree. The article is in this month's (August) "Popular Hot Rodding" ('64 Dart road racer). I was really hoping to have that car out to this race too, but the used 5spd I just put in it was not shifting right. Very likely you will see it next year at Clay City.

Thanks again,

Lou

Dennis, I have no control on the weather. I am just thankful that the rain that was all around us held off to get thru the event. Anytime there is rain in the area & heat their is going to be humidity and thats what we had was a very humid weekend.
We still had the quickest field ever in Slant 6 and a good turnout. This is the same weekend that we used to do the event at Bristol for years and yes, July is hot. If you check event schedules you will find that most other months have 2-3 Mopar events going on.
One reason we changed to July was due to the fact that the Slant cars were running races back to back races and that puts a burden on the average working guy who can't make one trip right after another.
Hey, you guys have the best parking spots on the grounds and believe me, alot cooler than I had.
Picnic tables and a cool shade tree, all you needed was a blanket and a balonga sandwich, moon pie and a big RC.
Thanks, again!

We had a great time and i will take the heat anytime over rain. That old bagel bomer is already trying to start trouble. Were are planning on coming up before the seasion is over keep the flyers coming. See you soon Ron Parker

Yeah, those big shade trees were awesome. They should have bunches of those at every strip!
