I bet Mandi can teach you how in 30 seconds. I'm sure she is already an expert

The reason we are downsizing is because people will not show up in person. I would like to try 2 races and see if good numbers will come to race their cars and meet everyone.

Definitely not looking to pack it in! This is my only hobby and I still have a list of records I hope to set.

I’m glad Mandi is still pumped about it! That’s exactly what we need to keep this thing going.

Agreed that two is better than nothing… actually three! We gotta keep MoKan going!
For those of you that haven’t made the trip out there… I highly recommend it!

Hmm, we could just do MoKan and ONE, hopefully big, eastern race? Just a thought... Hm, it is quite possible I can make MoKan this year, at long last.

I just got a call from Bryce Gill and they have been watching our posts here. They would like to put up some prizes to draw racers to a big race - maybe 3-5 prizes with the top prize being one of their EFI intakes! I thanked him very much and said I will keep them up to date on how many numbers we are expecting for our ~2 races this year and what would make sense for them. This may help with our promoting, so big thanks to Bryce and David!!

I vote for 2 races plus Mokan. I don't really care where they are .

I would like to do Mokan. Depending on the date and circumstances, I would try to make it. Any other race doesn't make much difference to me. They are all a long haul.

That's awesome Lou! Gill Welding for the WIN!!

I agree with Rick on MoKan + the other two. They will draw different participants for sure.

Another potential benefit of reducing the number of official races each year is that it may encourage those folks in more remote regions to host unofficial Slant 6 races/get togethers since there will be less a chance of them conflicting with a points race. Might be a WIN/WIN...

Bryce From Gill Welding called me as well and explained some of the sponsorship that they are very graciously offering to our small and geographically separated group of racers.
I also thanked him very much for this and explained that it is greatly appreciated. He is hoping to help revive some interest with the facebook youtube instagram tiktok crowd that they have access to.
Of course clicking on something vs actually arriving to an event are 2 very different things.

I would propose one race in the Midwest (MoKan)
one race in the East / Northeast (Mason-Dixon)
and one in the Tennessee / Kentucky area - that could be Knoxville, Crossville or London, etc.

I personally would prefer to go to a track that is going to be run efficiently and will not forget about our run group.

We would still have to decide if there are points awarded or are the races going to be for a fun slanted get together with some prize money and Gill merchandise?

Yes we will have to discuss what if any changes would be made to the record setting process.

If we have 3, or 2, or 1 races then I propose that Records would be set at an official race weather it counts for points or not, as we have the record setting procedure now.

It Would be nice if Mason Dixon Could Run 1/8 Mile Saturday and 1/4 Mile Sunday for the East cost Folks for records purposes, but of course Rick sometimes cannot get good communication with the track personnel, and that is not Rick's Fault.

Greg

At this point if we are only going to have 3 races including Mokan, I will try and get Elmer to run 1/8 mile one day and 1/4 the next.

As long as these are official Slant 6 races, why wouldn't the records count? Records are not tied to the points championship in my mind. Although they add 20 to a persons points total. They are individual records set at "official" Slant 6 races. If we decide the championship is not a good thing, the records should still count and go into the history books.

The Championship has less and less meaning as the number of races goes down, in my mind. I will be happy to let everyone else decide what they think is best.

As for a Southern race:

I am fine with whatever gets us the most racers out?

Clay City - Ran there many times.
London was Ok but ran terribly slow for unkown reasons.
Knoxville, runs fine if we can get them pegged down on a yes or no on coming. Helps get the Bruner crowd out .
MotorMile is nice a nice track and has run smoothly in the past ( The No prep race may have been the exception) Not as far
south.
Bristol, They were fine the times I was there. Does Jack have any contacts over there any more?
Wilkesboro and Farmington are both nice tracks and have treated us well.

Any other tracks? People with contacts?
