: for the 17th Annual Southeastern Mopar Meet
: 2001 at the Atlanta Dragway this past
: weekend, Sept 7th & 8th. The racers
: included: Ron Parker, Dale Rose and Brian
: Bayer from GA; Charlie Schmid from FL;
: Rodney Hargis and Lucas Brunner (back in
: Meril's Half Hemi) from TN; Charlie Holmes
: from AL; and Charles Myers and Ron Hamby
: from NC.

: Friday night was "test and tune" and
: the Slant 6 guys were all working to get
: their cars ready for the Saturday events. We
: awoke to dark and ominous skies Saturday
: morning, we even had an early rain shower;
: but the skies cleared by mid-morning and we
: were off to racing.

: The first round elimination winners in the
: Slant 6 Shootout were Ron Parker, Charlie
: Holmes, Charlie Schmid, and Ron Hamby. Lucas
: Brunner got a first round bye. In the second
: round of eliminations: Charlie Holmes won
: against Charlie Schmid and Lucas Brunner won
: against Ron Parker. Ron Hamby got the bye.
: In the third round: Ron Hamby won against
: Lucas Brunner, with Charlie Holmes taking
: the bye.

: The final round pitted Charlie Holmes' '70
: Plymouth Duster against Ron Hamby's '66
: Dodge Dart. Charlie dialed a 17.09 against
: Ron's 12.38 dail-in. Ron cut a .530 light
: againt Charlie's .590 light and was all over
: the brakes at the top end to take the win.
: Ron ran a 12.407 at 102.04 mph againt
: Charlie's 17.06 at 76.66 mph.

: Rodney Hargis and Lucas Brunner went 3 and 4
: rounds (respectively) in the Sportsman event
: and Ron went 3 rounds in the Super Pro
: event.
