Apparently he has a Dodge Dakota with a slant six and I'm trying to find out information about this truck, how the swap was done. I may do something similar to mine. Thanks in advance.

Dart 270 on this board also has a Dak with a Slant in it.

I bought that truck from Meril Bruner and Larry Chesney. It will on the dragstrip at the Clay City, KY Slant 6 race this weekend. Pics:

How far does the engine set back in the firewall?

I assume you have looked at the pics.

The #6 spark plug just about sits in the plane of the old firewall.

Yea I looked at them. I have a 1991 Dakota, longer front end and was toying with the idea of dropping a slant 6 in it. I would be curious to see the motor mounts on that thing.

Mine is a 1990, which should be the same front end, AFAIK. Where are you located?

I'll try to get some pics of the mounts, but pretty tight on time at the moment.

You could get a Slant in there without messing with the firewall, but the way they did it gives much better weight distribution.

I'm around Dayton, Ohio. 1991 they changed the front end so the 318 could squeeze in there better.

Well, then you'd have more room still!

Yes, locating the motor mounts might be the biggest piece of work needed.

FYI, Meril Bruner said he and Larry might be building another one of these w/o moving the firewall.

The motor mounts did look like the biggest challenge. The factory mounts/crossmember looked too far back compared to where the slant six mounts were unless you used a motor plate. I seen one on the net for a A body car. I'm sure it could be made to fit a Dakota.

It's not that hard to make your own plate. We made one for my Daytona. I bought a piece of aluminum from McMaster-Carr and laid it out with a water pump gasket. :D

I always felt the Dakota should have came with a slant 6. I never liked the V6 they used especially the scatter spark system because everyone of them had a slight balance issue.
