I only did intake clearancing. It was less than 1/8" for sure, more like 0.040". I used play dough to mark it and then cut by eye. IIRC, my 1.76/1.46 valves did not hit the valve reliefs, but were very close around the edges (0.020" or so).

I do believe it's mostly intake. 1/8 might be on the generous side.
in this situation i would rather take off too much insted of not enough.
I swiped a bit of the edge with a sharpie and ground until all the marker line was gone.
