Thanks for your thoughts, Ryan.

I think trying to classify "street" cars for special records will be problematic, at best, so probably best to keep things simple as they are. Lots of folks will argue (and have argued) about the line we would draw between street and race. Not a rodeo I'd like to ride in!

You guys both have been at this a lot longer than me and i'm sure you both know what works best. I like the simple setup too and the way it is right now works great. I definitely don't want to start anything that would cause problems.

Seymour just sent me another record, Lou set the D/Unlimited at elk creek so I will be updating the list shortly.

rumor has it that Dennis's will be able to break his own D/G record by quite a bit now too. What gears do you have right now? I'd love to see a good battle for the D/G record!! Clay City would be a great place for Dennis to try to break his record. Your on the west coast though right?? Too bad we couldn't have a battle at the track...... too bad my car's not faster.

im running 3.91's im shifting into third near the 1000ft mark and its killing my et, trap rpm 5K even... shifting @ 6K... i started at 5500 and kept upping the shift for lower et's, havn't gone past 6 with stock bottom end though!

im planing on knocking off atleast 2 tenths with the slicks (being able to launch at a high stall...)

but with the 4.88's it will trap at the correct rpm and get to speed sooner...

you would know better than me world record holder but i can always hope!

you can use a smaller dia tire and get 4.88 with out changing gears for fun test. I used a smaller tire and went from 20.92 to 19.52
stock 2 something gearing 7.25 rear

no other change.

all stock/launching in D with foot brake @ aprox 1000-1100 PRM on tach

i know but i bought 28x9 slicks... i dont like the short tire look... AT ALL...

Your gonna like the gears alot less in my opinion.Hope I am wrong but my guess is 3/4 track you will bee all in and not bee able to pull that gear.Hope I am wrong.Also slicks cant get you 2 10th,slicks will lower your 60 ft but I dont think by 2 10ths.Hope I am wrong.Mark

well im only launching @ 2600 right now and the cam isn't really clean untill 2800 or so... the converter will stall alot higher but cant get there due to slipping... so i think the slicks will let me leave where i need to...

as for the gears i figured @ 65mph i run @ 3100rpm, if i change to 4.88's i will be @ 3900... so 800rpm increase...

so 5800 or so... but will see soon enough...

and i dont have the 4.88's in it yet...

At Mason Dixon I ran my street tires (still a very soft tire) and ran a 14.7?? The next day in basically the same weather I ran my slicks (hoosier street slicks) and picked up .2 in my 60 foot, but lost it at the top end of the track and ran 14.7 again. Kinda disappointing. Others have gained more than me with slicks but it seems my car doesn't have enough power to benefit much from them yet. It does look better launching a car with slicks though! Im guessing I lost it from rolling resistance? Best of luck I hope you do pick up a good bit!
