Just as I suspected, x-rays showed arthritis eating away the cushion in my right knee just like the left. Cortisone shot for now, but next step is gel shots.

Life goes on.

Since I was off Friday, I loaded the car up and went to 41 for Test and Tune. First time out with the 4.86 gears in the car. First thing I noticed was it went up on the trailer really easy. :D

Got down there and weather was pretty close to what it was last time out. Sunny, high 80's with humidity in the upper 60s. Last pass then was 8.57@81, 1.87 60'.

Headed up to staging and pulled in line just in time for a broken car downtrack. Waited for awhile, then they started pulling cars. Next pair out, one breaks on the starting line. Wait some more, next pair out, clean and green.

I pull out into the left lane. Car feels pretty good on the burnout. Stage, and it stumbles going up on the 2-step. Got it caught, and it leaves fine. I over rev 2nd a couple hundred and hit 3rd before the 1/8th mile. I decide to see if it will go a full 1/4 and it crosses at 6000. Perfect. 1.84 60', 8.40@81 1/8, and 13.29@99. Got back to the pits and all was good.

Second pass weather was a touch better, low 80s but the humidity seemed to be rising. Right lane this time. Car comes right up on the 2-step and leaves good. 1.84/8.39@81/13.28@99. Went back on the trailer under it's own power.

Pretty sure the stumble was from the old gas in the cell. I tried running as much out as possible before putting new in. Pump gas sucks if you're not running the car fairly often.

Hope to test one more time before the Pumpkin Nationals at 41. 3 day race. $4100 to win Gambler's race Friday. Free entry with a weekend entry. I'm double entered again. Patrick is going to drive in No-Box and I in Box.

I plan to put the 4.86's I got lfrom you in my car for 1/8 mile at Motor Mile. I don't think i can run them in the 1/4 WITH MY 26" Tires. Are you running 30" tires?

Yes, 30X9 lightweight radial slick. Still shifting at 6300.

Yes allowing 5% converter slippage I would be turning 6800. I probably won't do that! :D :D

Mine will turn 7000 you coward.

It makes no power over 6300, but does make a lot of noise.

Heard from my buddy Bill at The Chicago Connection today, my new slick is here.

I am going back to the polished Monocoque wheels for next year. Patrick and I are going to mill the centers out on the fronts so I don't have to use a spacer anymore. The fronts are off the Daytona and are drum brake centers. They also have the 4" pattern as well as the 4-1/2".

Going to go through the ladder bars and check the rod ends, I may have a broken ball. Couple times at the Pumpkin race it made a weird move when hitting 2nd. If the budget permits it will get a new pair of shocks too.

I want to get the old Slantzilla motor out of the Daytona and try it out. I think it should get me in the 7s in the 1/8th. Patrick was almost there with the motor in the car now, but I am getting tired of thinking I will drive over the crank every time I let go of the button.

I've got a different converter I bought from Howard I want to try too. The TCI in the car is stalling right at 4000. The one from Howard may go 5000.

time to get the trans looked at. I want to take it and the one out of the Daytona and have Keith make them identical. It will be nice to have a spare ready to go.

The car really seems to like the 4.86 gears. I have a set of 5.13's I may try. I'm crossing the 1/4 at 6000 with 4.86s, I should be able to make it with 5.13s too. Actually, other than testing I never made a 1/4 mile pass at all this year. All my racing is 1/8th mile anyway.

After digging around in my shop it's time to start selling off "projects". The Daytona will go as well as the Volare. Teresa's son in law wants the Turd truck. He's a good kid, it will probably be his. Might as well corrupt him while I can.

Car goes in Monday for a new glass windshield. The guy was going to do it yesterday but I didn't have time to get him the car and get to work.

His supplier had one in stock. It's probably 30 years old and they thought they were going to die with it.

New tinted windshield is in. So much nicer being able to see out now.

Bright side is when Mike put the lexan in he used the factory gasket and molding. Guy had the new one in in less than an hour.
