Good thing you didn't come up to drive, huh?

John, Keith is already asking for the trans so he can fix it. If it did indeed break the tangs on the converter, I may look into having it converted to the A-500 style drive.

It would have been cool just to hang out. Sucks that your car broke though.

We had fun at the wine tasting event last night.

What does the change to the A-500 style drive involve and what is better about it?

Instead of the two notches in the converter snout it has flats ground into the sides I believe. I know that's how the A-518 is. It's a fairly common swap on 727s.

Glad you and the wife had fun.

I taught Teresa how to ride the 4-wheeler. She was a happy girl.

Trans is out and in Keith's hands. Front pump gear broke. Converter looks ok. I inquired about the A-500 swap and Keith said it is a lot more involved on a 904 than it is on a 727, so that's on hold for now. He is going to replace my Turbo Action brake with his latest high zoot Griner/727specialists design. I told him to do whatever he wants and don't tell me so I will be able to tell if his changes made any difference. :?

It is possible I will have it back in the car next weekend.

Got pictures from Keith today, as expected it broke the lugs out of the pump gear. It had some hot spots in the high gear steels too. The Cheetah valve body is being replaced with a 727specialists/Griner unit. Also getting a Griner retainer for high gear. Picking it up next Friday, hoping to test next Sunday at 41.

Since I really need to send my PTC converter in to check for damage, I will install my TCI 5000 stall. This should be fun.

Sounds great, D. Have fun!

Someday I need to drop of a 904 to Keith to get it built right. I have had 3 "reputable" people/shops build 904s for me in the last 15 yrs and not a single one turned out right. 2 broke and one has a gimpy valve body.

Great. Maybe this fall/winter if I drive up to WI I could drop it and pick up on the way back. Would be great to see you too.

Looked my PTC converter over tonight prior to loading it up to go to the shop tomorrow for the trans install. It has to go back to PTC, one of the drive notches has a crack in it. From the outside it looks good, but when you look at the inside you can see it. :(
