Not defending him, but it's not so hard to make a slant go slow

CEEJ are you saying "No" manifold heat?

The picture is cool, but I really don't like that pan on a drag engine.
IMO

I think Tony is finding out that a slant is tuned a little bit differently then a nitro fuel engine. It seems that he has managed to build himself a very peaking engine, with no power down low.

If you watch his videos, he can't even do a decent burn out. Mid 10's in the eighth is not bad, but his cars weight 2200lbs or so. My '65 Dart ran that good when it was running. And it is nowhere close to that weight.

Mid 10s in the 1/8 in a 2200 lb car is not much above a stock engine, or maybe just a well-tuned/blueprinted one. High 9s is starting to make a little power. I guess free advice isn't worth much to the bigshots writing the magazing articles and getting famous on the internet.

Steve Magnante is the ONLY guy I know who got direct advice from a Slant 6 expert, and consequently his Slant cars ran quite well (13s on a little juice, 14s on motor, in very streetable cars). Love that guy!

No to manifold heat.

You can't really see the pan in that photo.

Try this:
