Post subject:  Transmission cooling line source

I want to replace the nasty looking transmission cooling lines when I swap engines on my '64 Valiant, but I can only find them for a V8.

Does anyone have a source for slant six lines? I'd prefer stainless, but will take whatever I can get.

I've tried the search function, but it's not working.

Made mine from parts store brake line and fittings. See pics in the slixer's gallery. Seems like the lines for a 904 equipped v8 car would fit without too much massaging...

Are the In/Out fittings on the radiator that different location-wise?

Not. Totally different between the radiator and the aft end of the engine. You'd have a much easier time adapting different-year slant-6 pre-bent lines, than adapting same-year V8 pre-bent lines. You can get '67+ slant-6 pre-bent lines from Fine Lines, in regular or stainless.

Aaah. I was just thinking of either end.

Do you know what the differences are between the '67-up, and a '64?

The line going to the rear of the trans has a steeper bend on the 67 & up version. Your 64 has a 45 degree fitting on the trans where the 67 & up has a straight fitting... so the bend in the line is different.
This can be made to work with a little "unbending".

Depending on the radiator, the 67 line may not reach as far to the passenger side... basically, the in / out fittings on the later radiators were closer together.
You may want to take that measurment off your current line and have the supplier check the ones they offer. Again, some careful re-bending will get it to work.

If you dont mind the looks different scene. Then you can go braided AN style flex lines and fittings.

Thanks, everyone. I think I'll go with the late model lines and make them work.
