 Post subject: b&t ujoint boot

i just checked the parts database and didn't see a listing for a ball and trunnion ujoint boot. does anybody out there nave a good part number for one of these animals. a complete service/replacement kit would be nice. i was going to use an old cv boot off a mazda but thought i would check here first. thanks!

The problem, i have found with the B&T kits, is the boots are so old they are dry rotted. I put a kit in my Cuda 2 yrs ago, and the first pass down the track the boot disintegrated. I have since converted to a standard u-joint & slip spline.

Precision U joints still list a kit for these joints, but I don't rember the part number.

I've been told, but never installed one over mine yet, that the V/W Beetle Swing Axle Boot will install over it our A-body Ball & Trunion. May have even been on this site. It is a split boot not requiring dis-assembly.

One day I'll get around to dropping $20 for one and giving it a try.

If you try this, let me know how it works out.

Go to Andy Bernbaum's site and get a new boot kit that hasn't been sitting on the shelf for decades. Their part number is Q-102. It says it fits '60-'62 Valiant-Lancer, which is true. It also correctly fits '63-'65 Valiant-Barracuda-Dart.

Or just be done with the ancient, probably-worn-out, expensive-to-rebuild ball/trunnion front joint and do the conversion instead.
