While moving the car around yesterday to prep and clean for re-assembly, instead of chocking it my son applied the e-brake on a slight hill. Normally not a problem but.... the tranny is just hanging in there on a strap. It rotated 90-degrees into the side of the driveline opening, bending the dipstick and tube. I got to thinking about it more last night and I'm figuring we finished off whatever was left of the transmission mount. I'm also wondering what we did to the cable shifter mechanism? I guess we'll find out Wednesday when get get back up there to work on it some more.

That must have a 2 spd Powerflight Trans I don't think they used driveline parking brakes on the Torqueflite transmissions.

Well.....it's a 1960 Seneca pushbutton auto 3-speed. Pretty sure it's a 904. Gigantic brake on the driveshaft and no Park option.

Chock 2 or 3 wheels to be safe and that way you don't bust a cable or hard to find connector.

Was under the car alot yesterday and we seem to have dodged the bad-damage bullet. Got a new two-hole filter and pan gasket on the trans and filled the torque converter before sliding it home (it only had rudimentary screen, not a true filter...which I thought odd). All the critical connections seem to have survived the harsh use the other day, but....time will tell. Should know more tomorrow.

Using the E brake should be fine.

I think what you may mean...... is that when you roll the car, the drive shaft wants to spin. If your transmission is in park, the park pawl is engaged, and maybe the driveshaft "spun" the transmission.

Well...it looks like I failed to mention that the engine is out of the car.
