Hey guys, Got a 63 Valiant /6 with a Torqstorm supercharger 4speed, been running a couple a years now. Have a Brewers 10 inch clutch kit in it, but it has a lot of pedal pressure. It does not disengage well and is hard to get in any gears. I would like to replace it with a new disc and diaphragm pressure plate with a little more pressure than stock. 25 plus years ago I used to run a Zoom clutch kit and it did very well, but am told Zoom has been bought out. Any help would be great.

Thanks , James

Sounds like a great car! RAM clutches now has several options for the Slant with big holding power. I assume you are running the 833 4spd?

When you put that combo together did you check and adjust the bell housing runout and minimize it?

If not, which is many a mistake of mine a while back, then in will cause issues as you described with the clutch and plate.

Ram does have some skookum as frighted options now for the slant.

Cheers!

Greg

Greg, I will research this runout problem. I don't understand why it did so well for about a year and slowly got to this point? Checked each individual linkage part for flexing and or cracks. Thanks, James

Hi James, sometimes the runout being off will be fine for a year or two but it aggressivley wears the internals and alignment of the trans shafts ℄'s so It can work fine for a while then be hard to shift.

you said that you checked the linkage and everything - But double check your Z bar ..

on early ('62-'66) cars with heavy pedal pressure they can fail.

Lookhere for some of my experience and fix.
