The 2022 Slant 6 drag racing season kicked off at MoKan Dragway in Asbury, MO on 2 April.

Denny Baierl set new C and D unlimited records driving Steve Nitti’s Duster. He was able to just break the 12 year old record held by Ryan Peterson. They then added weight to break Lou's D Unlimited record. MoKan was scheduled as a ¼ mile event only with no 1/8 mile, so there were no 1/8 mile records set.

Here are the new records:

C/Unlimited:
1/4 Mile ET: 10.8498 Denny Baierl Duster Mokan, MO 3,074
Previous record: 8/22/2010 10.9100 Ryan Peterson 66 Valiant Kearney, NE 3,000
1/4 MPH: 125.8400 Denny Baierl Duster Mokan, MO 3,074
Previous record: 8/22/2010 124.8700 Ryan Peterson 66 Valiant Kearney, NE 3,000
D/Unlimited:
1/4 Mile ET: 10.9137 Denny Baierl Duster Mokan, MO 3,253
Previous record: 9/10/2017 12.7560 Lou Madsen 68 Dart Clay City, KY 3,270
1/4 MPH: 124.0400 Denny Baierl Duster Mokan, MO 3,253
Previous record: 9/10/2017 107.4520 Lou Madsen 68 Dart Clay City, KY 3,270

Mokan summary:

Denny Baierl (Driving Steve Nitti’s Super Charged Duster)
David Willis (Driving a Blue Duster for ??? I can’t remember his name)

First Round
Jeff vs David = Jeff Wins
Denny vs Bye = Denny wins

Second Round
Jeff vs Denny = Denny wins (Jeff loses because of a bone head really bad reaction time)

Steve Nitti and Denny take the Mark Goodman custom made trophy, plus the $100 tow money for the furthest tow. Congratulations Steve & Denny.
A great day racing at Mokan.

Here are the points updated to show everything.

Denny earned 20 Bonus points for setting a record, putting him in first place.

Mandi Gravatt still qualifies for Rookie of the Year contention because she only participated in one race weekend prior to this season.

I am still trying to pin down a date for the Farmington, NC race in either June or July. More to follow on that. Sorry for the delay.

I just locked in the Farmington race for Fri/Sat July 22/23.

So,...

The next race for the 2022 season will be at Farmington Dragway in Mocksville, NC the weekend of 22-23 July.

We used to race at Farmington 2004 - 2008 and another couple times in 2013 - 2014.

Notable winners of this event over the years:

Rodney Hargis
Ron Parker
Tom Drake
Ron Hamby (2)
Leighton Drake
Rob Simmons (Yeah,... I've won an event or more over the years... Still a Poser though... )

Stay tuned for more drag racing action!!

Ladies and Gentlemen,... We are on course to have the lowest turnout in our 24 years of Slant 6 drag racing history...

I'm not saying this to be a downer or complain...

Consider it more of a plea...

To consider making it out to a race this year.

Just pick one. The closest one to you...

And...

Come out and Run with the Slants!!!

The AHRA race Labor Day weekend got cancelled.

Looks like only 2 racers planning to come to Farmington 22-23 July. If no one else posts their intentions to come by Friday (8 July), I plan to cancel this race as well.

After that it will be Clay City 9-11 September.

Thanks, Rob. I bet we could have a decent turnout at Clay City. There is also a late-season makeup possibility at M-D??

I am still building cars and engines...

Post subject:  Re: 2022 Run for the Championship!!!!

I’ll update them today. Did anyone get “Tink’s” last name?

Does this look right?

Lou - 5
Rodney - 5
Jeff - 10
Greg - 10
Joel - 10
Tink ??? - 5

If Jeff set a record, add 20.

Thanks Rob,
If anyone Has Tink's Info, I think It would be Lou, as he Drew up the Ladder.

I am not sure about any records - Jeff will have to chime in on that one.

I texted Jeff. He didn't get two 1/4 mile passes, so no back-up run. :(
