Looks like Holley has a 1BBL sniper now. Autolite 1100. Even looks like it could be adapted to early throttle rod linkage.

If you are considering that Holley sniper system, for only a little more money and effort you can go MPFI instead of TBI:

For the price of the Holley 1 barrel system I could adapt propane and pocket a chunk of change.

What are the benefits of propane, other than when being used in a building, or in off camber situations?

Propane burns very cleanly. It is a dry fuel so it will not wash oil off the cylinder walls nor dilute the oil. Compared to a carbureted engine a propane engine tends to last much longer due to these factors. Propane is mostly one compound. This means that there aren't the same amount of light and heavy fractions that evaporate or congeal as you would find in gasoline. If you have ever been inside a Propane fueled engine you will find that they are very clean. Propane lasts a long time because it is in a gas tight container and can't evaporate or oxidize. Most standby generators up to around 80 kW tend to be propane. Larger units are usually diesel and prime power units are usually diesel although natural gas is also a player.

I've thought about converting one of my vehicles to propane before. I think I'd want dual fuel capabilities, being able to run plain ol regular gas as well as the propane

Propane also will require a bit more compression. If wanting to explore propane or LNG conversions, you might check your
local schools. Here in Oregon, Linn-Benton CC has a program in their Auto Courses, and in talking with the people in the know,
they would love to work with someone with a unique project, and would give the vehicle owner access to tools and a dyno
that the hobbyist wouldn't normally have.

FYI.
