Hello again,
I think I was confused about my MS motherboard? And am curious if it has been modified. I probably should also ask and post on diyautotune.

Motherboard v3.0 2005

Daughterboard v3.01 2005

Is this compatible with MS3? Will I need the daughterboard. Have these boards been visibly modified?

Cheers,
Barnaby

That is an MS2 V3.0 board - the main board is a V3.0 and the smaller board is an MS2 daughter card. The MS2 daughter card would be removed when upgrading to an MS3, and you would need the taller MS3 V3.0 case.

Thanks Matt! I'm curious why thy original owner of my MS would put a v2 daughterboard on a v2 motherboard?

Everything in the MegaSquirt world has its own version numbers and they usually don't match the version numbers on other parts. The combination of an MS2 daughterboard on a V3.0 main board is one of the most common builds out there; they were designed to work together. (The previous main board was called a V2.2, and intended to work with the MS1 processor, after a very short run of V1.01 main boards. I think there's about 100 V1.01s boards produced before the V2.2 came out.)

V3.0 main board was also designed to be upgraded to MS3 w/that daughterboard, is I think another aspect of what Matt said.
