NAPA shows the three wire switch as the only one part number for '69 and back. Is there a way to hook up the three wire switch to work with my one wire system?

If mounting is no problem then you should be able to hook it up. You need to use a tester or ohmmeter to see which 2 of the terminals are connected when the switch is engaged. Then hook one terminal where the other switch hooked up (the starter relay?) and hook the other terminal to ground.

The "working end" of the 3-pin switch is different; I don't remember if the thread and seal is the same or not. There are a LOT of these switches around as New Old Stock; I'd find one of those.

(the 3-pin switch is used for Neutral Safety and reversing lamp switching).
