I'm in the process of fixing my 63 Wagon and wanted to get the backup lights working. The manual told me where to look for the switch and of course it was toast. I engineered a new bracket to hold a mini switch and then wired the lights using a relay (to take the full power away from the switch). The lights now work great. Total cost , about $20.00 and a couple hours time.

Nice work! Those reverse lamp switches for the pushbutton cars are still around, but are not easy to find and not cheap.

Nice work. I might try to get some insulation around any exposed connections there. Maybe you have already done that.
