The wiper motor on my 67 Dodge Dart 270 is totally locked up. I disassembled it and the brushes at the base of the armature are broken in half. Is it possible to repair this, or is the "repair" to buy a new wiper motor?

I would take it to a local start/alternator rebuild shop and have them rebuild it for you. Better quality than any "new" or "reman" motor you could buy (except a NOS one).

Thanks! Is there a shop you might know of in particular? No one around here wants to touch anything I bring them.

I've never been to Indiana, so I can't recommend a shop. There used to be shops listed in the phone book, but that was back before the internet when we still had manufacturing and rebuilding services in the US.

Any of these close to you?

You might be able to replace the brushes yourself...….

Hardware store, Hobby store.

Measure the existing brushes and you might find something that fits.

If replacements are dimensionally slightly bigger, it's easy to file them down to size with a flat file.

"it's easy to sand them down to size with medium/fine grit sandpaper."
