The starter in my 1965 Dodge A100 pickup will not engage about one out of ten times, very randomly. It is very random so I put off having someone look at it. My theory with electrical issues is it should work all the time until it doesn't. I can't seem to find a loose wire or connection that may explain this and it never leaves me stranded, so it never makes it to the top of my to do list. It is kind of irritating but kind of serves as a theft deterrent (I figure the truck will not be stolen since I am the only person that can operate it.) What should I be looking at?? Gary |

Usually this is a bad connection inside the starter. If you just hear a click, but it does not turn the engine, then the switch operating the motor itself would likely have an intermittent contact. If no click, then it may be external to the starter. Lots of possibilities. Lou |
