Is it running yet and how big a down pipe did you use? Later

I'm glad somebody has finally done this (more or less), I've been thinking how easy it would be to put a turbo right where the battery tray is.

The beast lives, the down pipe is 2.5 inch "flange size on the turbo"
Where to start gotta fix a small oil leak, throttle cable is binding clearance the exhaust a bit "rattle".
The A/F gauge is all over the place "keep in mind throttle cable sticks so i don't know if thats throwing it off"
10.4 rich with my foot off the gas at idle then when driving in gear with even slight throttle shows very lean i think i saw a 17.2 for a split second and backed out of the gas. Gotta change my elec fan took a $#!+ last night then ill give more detailed information.
Vac signal seems to be around 15lbs at idle 20 at 2000rpm.
The carb is setup out of the box with the progressive throttle opening (secondaries dont open till maybe 1/3 throttle)
i'm shocked to see it says lean under throttle considering the carb is a flippin 650cfm barry grant blowthrough.
Oh and haven't put a timing light on it yet just got it running last night
Kev, Help! :)

Say, just remember your 650 Demon flows somewhere around 750cfm. Your gunna have to jet it up. I run 96 jets in the rear on my 575. Is your dist locked? Also, your PV set up is only good till around 18 psi. After this you will need to boost ref it better or eliminate it. You may want to disconnect the secondaries for now until you get it running good. Good luck. Later

Putting in a higher pv like a 10.5 wouldn't help richen part throttle?
wow 96jets in the secondaries.
Out of box this carb is running 75jet on primary/ 83 secondary/ 6.5 HFPV

Running a higher PV # just means it enrichens quicker when accelerating. I was wrong w/ the 96 jets. I was using them until I put the extended vent tubes in the bonnet then it only needed a 92 jet. This is w/ an 80 jet in the primary and PV blocked. Your PV is worth around 8 jet sizes. Have you driven it yet to see how it reacts under load? later

Why does not having enough air velocity for the carburetor to function properly surprise you? It's too big a carb so the air is moving too slowly.

Ok took if for a couple mile drive today before noticing a pesky oil leak.
Car won't idle now yesterday had it idling at 750rpm i think a butterfly may be stuck from closing all the way ill figure that out tommorow.
As for the drive, a/f says mid 10's with foot off the gas not idling below 1100-1500 rpm, when i blip the throttle shows very lean so im thinking pump shot needs more, only thing i've changed so far was secondaries to jet 95 per ryans comment seem to help the part throttle from going way lean. While accelerating a/f shows from 10's foot off gas then ease into throttle blips lean then levels out into the 12's to 14's range maybe. Haven't even had a chance to do the idle mixture screws yet been fixing other issues.
Under load when i'm easing into the throttle theirs the noticable lean hesitation and the a/f gauge backs that up, its friggin sweet to drive though BOV sounds cool can't floor besides the obvious tuning issues i believe the wastegate spring is to stiff, i'm gonna order a 4lb one because i gave it bit of throttle the other day and saw the gauge shoot up to like 10lbs so i got out of it real quick.

Keep working on it. It takes time to sort out the issues.

Just so i have a goal to aim for what kinda of A/F ratio am i looking to hit at idle, part throttle, full throttle?

Idle you want as lean as possible consistent with a smooth idle. Cruise can be as lean as 16:1 maybe leaner. Once the load comes up it should be about 12.5-13:1. Under boost I'd shoot for 11.5:1.
