little more progress today. got the headers out of there which is a task all by itself. put the stock manifold that i hogged out back in. you can see the block off plate that i made for the manifold to manifold heat exchange. got a whole 1/4 inch of clearance between the manifolds.

<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/IMG_20140322_163433_014_zpse5985c26.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20140322_163433_014_zpse5985c26.jpg"/>

went to put the hyper pac back on with the new manifold and found out why i got it so cheap. the choke stove was interfering with the fit so that had to go. on a side note, anyone looking for a nice ratchet check out the stanley one in the picture. you can twist the handle and it turns the drive.

<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/IMG_20140322_185806_177_zps7915e0eb.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20140322_185806_177_zps7915e0eb.jpg"/>

following phishta's builds to the T, i had to notch both of my mounts. the solid mount that i made and the stock engine mount for clearance for the j-pipe. its getting there. im happy with my progress.

<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/IMG_20140322_185644_482_zps93b49fc2.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20140322_185644_482_zps93b49fc2.jpg"/>

swap meet tomorrow. if i get back in time ill weld the flanges to the pipe and start on the support for the turbo. i think im going to run an upright from either the motor mount or the power steering pad and tie it in with some strapping from the water pump. the upright should bear the weight and the strapping should keep it from moving around to much. was thinking about tying it to the intake as well but not to sure about that just yet. more to come soon.

little more time in. worked on fitting the jpipe. got it to sit where i wanted it to and started welding.
<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/IMG_20140324_155305_984_zps2a67391a.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20140324_155305_984_zps2a67391a.jpg"/>

jpipe take one. i know my welds arent pretty but they are solid. flux core mig welder in the wind.
<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/IMG_20140324_163134_576_zps36be9fa8.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20140324_163134_576_zps36be9fa8.jpg"/>

jpipe take two, the first one positioned my exhaust out of the turbo straight at my intake. dont know how i missed it the first time but i sure did. luckily i had an extra flange.
<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/IMG_20140324_181302_326_zps4fc718da.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20140324_181302_326_zps4fc718da.jpg"/>

final resting position of my turbo.
<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/IMG_20140324_181445_677_zps512cda05.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20140324_181445_677_zps512cda05.jpg"/>

hardest thing out of everything i have done on this project is making a round pipe rectangular. if its not to cold tomorrow and i can beat the incoming snow storm i might work on the bracing for the turbo. not really sure how its gonna work out just yet. wound up mounting lower then expected. i am running solid mounts so i might just brace from the frame. not sure yet. more to come soon.

no real update to speak of. got my oil drain tube on my pan. waiting on a couple of parts. these fittings are driving me up a wall. would be nice if the threads were standard. but no. would also be nice to be able to walk into a store and try the stuff to make sure its going to work. basically at a standstill trying to figure out my oil feed. ive been running an oil pressure gauge for as long as ive had the car. it has two reducers on it and a final nipple for the compression fitting for the line. i cant seem to find anything that will go from the second reducer to a T. then i need to find a fitting that will allow me to retain the oil pressure gauge and also fit into the T.

on a side note. i have been thinking about my ignition system. i think im going to lock the mechanical advance and just run the vacuum. the way i have it worked out in my head is that i will get the advance on vacuum where i need it. once the motor starts getting up in the rpm's the boost will back off the vacuum advance and stop at what ever my base is. should be safe for now. i need to look into figuring out how to put the travel into degrees so i can have a little mechanical advance down the road.

Junior,

We just went onto a parts store and bought about 6 or 8 feet of 5/16" steel brake line (already had flares on both ends) and ran it from a T fitting on the distributor (oil pump) across the firewall and forward to the turbo. You can get a T-fitting that goes onto the distributor where the oil pressure gauge used to go, hook up the pressure gauge to one aside of the T-fitting and the brake line to the other side. You can get an adapter to connect the brake line to the tubo bearing inlet.... no problem.

i have a T, have the brake line. trying to find something that i can screw into the oil pump and the T. gonna use a compression fitting from the T to the brake line. just for ease of installation. might use a regular brake fitting dont know yet i have both. my trouble is just going from the 3/4 inch hole in the oil pump to the T designed for 3/16" line. also the fitting that i have in there now for the oil pressure gauge is a different thread then what i have in the T. what a pita. ill figure it out. need to take a trip to home depot or something like that. the narrow selection my local advanced auto parts has isnt quite cutting it.
