27"of 3" pipe is my complete exhaust from the turbo. i like the three on the tree. not sure how much more its going to take though.

i gotta do something with the gearing. gonna need a different tranny with a nice low 1st and an over drive or two so i can run 2.73's. i had them in a while ago and it was hard on the clutch to get it off the line.

it was really nice out today so i spent a couple hours in my basement getting the 600 double pumper ready to go. got the choke horn cut off, the linkage hole blocked off and drilled the hole for the brpv. tomorrow ill clean it, put the kit i have for it in there and either transfer the rest of my brpv stuff over or make a new one. need to swap over the bowls from the 650. need the floats out of them.

with this new carb im gonna start with what ever it has in there now and just watch the afr gauge and see what happens. from there ill get the cruise dialed in. once i have that ill work on the wot and open up the pvcr's.

looking for some better street manners out of this smaller carb.

<img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/weesers1/Mobile%20Uploads/20150310_195248_zps9ztevgrc.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20150310_195248_zps9ztevgrc.jpg"/>

you might notice that i took more of the choke horn off then most do. because of my limited hood clearance im running the low profile carb hat im hoping this kind of setup will net me a better more stable mix.

got the carb together today. had original paper gaskets in it. they sucked to clean off. love the blue stuff. swapped over the secondary block from the 650 and used the 600 primary. swapped over the brpv stuff but didnt drill out the pvcr's yet. likes to idle around 12 afr, cruise is an impressive 14.5-15. wot was apparently to lean. stayed in it a little to long and popped the head gasket. wanted to see where it bottomed out at, turned out to be a bad idea. think it blew out on the lifter galley side. had a back fire through the breather blew the breather cap off. smoking bad from the valve cover with a noticeable miss at all rpm. gonna get a gasket and pull the head to see what is going on. hopefully the pistons are still intact.

they are in order the one on the left is number one. no idea what is going on with the gaps. cant imagine i would have put them in that way. cyl 3 was oil fowled. i pulled the plug wire when it was running and nothing changed. the insulation broke off of the center of number 5. i hope that didnt make it through my turbo in one piece.

Ouch sorry to hear that, curious what head gasket are you running? Were you able to see what your afr was during wot? What boost during this pull?

regular fel pro replacement. was around 13afr. boost was just over 15psi. it was spooling. boost is set at 20psi. was cruising in 3rd at 35mph floored it and watched the afr drop. wasnt paying attention and it got away from me. i should have turned the boost down to try out the new carb. live and learn.

kinda debating which gasket to use this time around. i have a couple steel shim head gaskets. thinking about using one of them. or go with the felpro again and do a better job of watching the afr.

gonna go with the steel shim head gasket. thinking about throwing some copper wire in there too just for good measure.

At least the head gasket DID blow. Could be like me - chasing heating issues, pulling head apart to find a perfectly fine head gasket. ugh.

not really sure yet. just assuming at this point. we all know what happens when you assume. gonna pull the head tomorrow and figure it out. i hope i dont get it apart and find a good head gasket in there. lol. also, while i have my turbo off im going to try and rig up some kind of quick spool valve. i have a twin scroll turbo. gonna make a flap that blocks off half of it until it spools then opens up so it does not restrict the flow at higher rpm. it should knock my .89ar down to something like a 44.5ar. it should spool right off of idle and have ridiculous response and low end torque. should be a blast to drive. my china turbo had a .63ar and that spooled around 2500. im curious to see what 20+psi from 2500 rpm feels like. lol. ill post some pics up of the rig when i do it.

whelp, wasnt the head gasket. it ate a piston.

trying to figure out where to go from here. i dont have any pistons laying around anymore. everything else still looks good. no damage on the others. no surprises under the valve cover. i have a spare motor but i dont really wanna change it. at the same time i dont really wanna pull the pan. lol. i gotta figure something out though.
