Just read the update on the Aussiespeed website, slant supercharger manifold now being cast. Is to suit 142/144 Weiand using small block chevy length drive, and will have adopters for other such as 3/71, 4/71 & Eatons etc. Good to see Aussie company supporting the slant guys. I've been patiently waiting a long time for this :D Cant wait to get my hands on a 4/71 version!

Looks nice. If you have an "in" with them, I would highly suggest increasing the runner cross-sectional area. Many of us have tried these intakes on naturally aspirated motors and they run out of breath around 5000-5500. A quick swap to a Clifford 4bbl gets you a bunch of top end power. The main difference I can see that might produce this is the small runner area... I have tried the long and the short runner and they both run out of breath up high.

Thanks,

Lou

Hi Lou. Would the forced induction negate the smaller runner issue of make it worse in your opinion?

I have less experience/knowledge about that, but the turbo folks I know have wanted large runner areas and large-ish plenums. Looks like that intake has the large plenum part...

Offy is better below 4500 or so. Clifford is definitely better above that, assuming you have a motor that can make power up there (good flowing head, higher comp, med/large cam, looser rotating/recip assembly, etc). All things being equal, headwork w/bigger valves will get you the biggest gains out of anything.

If this manifold does have a larger plenum for the blower, is there enough material in the runners for someone to work their magic?

I have tried both, with the same engine setup, and the Clifford was the better manifold. In my opion, the Offy is no better then a supersix manifold, with the exception that you can run 4v carb.

Yes, there is material in the runners, but why not cast it bigger to begin with?

Hey, when you say tried them both on the same engine. Did the engine have a lot of mods? Headwork, big cam etc? hp?
Has anyone else had similar results with the Clifford vrs Offy?
I also was wondering if the triple Webbers would be a gain from either a Clifford or Offy 4brl? Has anyone made that upgrade on a built engine without other major changes and got good results? I ve been wondering that ever since I got the Slant bug.
Appreciate any and all comments.
Thanks Derek

Yes, home ported head, OS valves, 8.75 compresion, erson 270 cam, dutra manifolds, 500 avs, yada, yada...

The only change was the manifold swap. The Clifford was better.
