I have been considering building a slant six to eventually equip with a turbo and was curious as to what I would need to do in order for it to be suitable for the boost that would be produced. Basically what’s the best way to build a bullet proof slant six? Thanks!

I have a Slant that I rebuilt in 1989 with stock parts. It has 180,000 miles since then. It is in a street/strip car and makes 350-400 HP on 12-14 psi boost and runs high 12s in the 1/4 mile. I have port EFI and ignition control on it to make sure it does not experience detonation. If the tuneup is right, you can handle plenty of boost with a stock motor.

My advice: If you are going to use a carb and simple dist, limit yourself to 8 psi and you can still make a true 250-300 HP (more than double what the stock engine made).
