Plenty of fun at the autoX, then cookout at my place for the afternoon/eve. Mark took a look at my bodywork on the 68 and gave some advice - thanks, Mark! Brian brought my dipped/stripped fenders and valance for the 64 Dart - thanks, Brian! Greg stayed over in the basement (separate bathroom and entrance). AutoX times were so-so, but plenty to learn about the car and driving. Both Greg and I still had fuel starvation issues due to carbs. I had not seen any on a full-zoot roadcourse weekend in November, but the transitions are faster in autoX. EFI coming soon for me, or I'll swap to a 500 Hly 2bbl for autoX since I know those work.

Today we hit Back of the Dragon from Marion, VA to Tazewell, VA. WOW, that is a fun road. Gotta do that again, likely both ways. Wayyyy more fun than the autoX and almost no traffic. After an early lunch, Greg headed north and Mark south. I took VA 61 back to Narrows, VA (more fun then hopped on US 460. Got home at 1:20 PM and just had a relaxing time mowing the lawn and weeding... The 62 Valiant, mostly stock suspension (stock tbars and no front sway, stiffer rear leafs and hotchkis shocks) was a beautiful terror on the mtn roads. Need to autoX that again or get it on a roadcourse. Might swap on a front swaybar (esp for autoX), but honestly it felt quite good. The car is very light, of course.

Lou

Back of the Dragon Was intense - Everyone was grinning ear to ear!

On the clearing / overlook where the BOTDPIX photographer sets up we pulled off to admire the road, the air, the countryside and slant 6 camaraderie.

Yeah, that looks like a good route to take to get to Tazewell next time.

I was a grinnin' ear to ear, Trying to keep up with the white '62 and also hearing marks' horn a beepin on every beepin' turn! :-)
