I suggest that you invest in a 10 cent cotter pin and drill a hole in that stud and pin that nut fast! :D :D

A good idea, but wouldn't of fixed our problem. Our air cleaner stud sheared both below the wingnut, and where it threads into the carb. The intermediate part was what went in the engine. :) Now we use a grade 8 stud, and also have the wheel weights taped on with metal tape.

It seems that All kind of super goofy stuff happens in Road Racing that does not to Drag cars.

Imagine Drag racing for 60 Minutes at a time with no Letting off the gas..

Stuff has to be skookum, all the time and you will find faults with the smallest little things that will make your day and car slow down.

Kinda like plane mechanicals. it has to be better than good to last.

We used to say a circle track engines running time in one race, is like drag engines running time in one season. For something like "Lemons" racing, multiply that by about 1,000.
Can you imagine a engine running at full load, and varying rpm for 16 hours?
