Very cool! You've got thicker TBs and sway bar than ToadRacer.

Did you find that the 8 3/4 slowed you down much from the little 7 1/4?

I wouldn't say the axle slowed us down much if any. However the switch from a 3.23 gear with the 7.25 to a 2.94 with the 8.75 was definitely noticeable. Our new tires are also about an inch taller than the 14's we were running before so that made our effective gear ratio even taller compared to the past. Once we get the transmission temps figured out and start doing more shifting it will help overcome the gear ratio issues.

Yeah, that's a fairly low ratio for road racing, compounded by taller tires. Did you select the 2.94 ratio for a reason, or was it just what you had?

It was what I had laying around and free is a good price. With the 3.23 and very short tires before we were in the rev limiter sometimes at the end of the long front straight at thunderhill and close to it in the S's at Sonoma. With the taller tires the 3.23 would probably be perfect now. We definitely wouldn't want a deeper gear than that though at the tracks we run.

It seems like 3.55 is a good sweet spot for us. At least for now. Once we upgrade to a T-5 or other manual transmission it might be better suited for 3.73. Time will tell... YMMV.

Did you catch Eric Rood's comment in the most recent Lemons World video where he briefly mentioned someone building a mid engine Slant 6...?
