Need help finding or making a heater temp control cable for my 78 d100. Not sure if this is the right sub forum or not so please adjust if not. There might be enough of the cable left to re-make the end but I’m not 100% sure on that. Also maybe a dorman or edelbrock choke cable will fit inside the existing sheath. I can find NOS ones but I don’t really want to pay 30-$60 or more for one. Thanks and slant on!

Lots of vans and trucks from that era use the same cable.

If your truck does not have a/c.. you can remake the end of the cable again and move the heater control valve closer to the firewall. It will help on your cable length.

Also I recommend replacing the valve with a new one. They are cheap for non ac units. It will help the new or adjusted cable not break again!

Thanks for this. Been awhile since I’ve been online here. I found a choke cable on Amazon and just cut the ends off and remade new ones. New valve back in and it works great. Now I can actually control my heat!!
