Hi I have a 1973 Scamp that originally had what the fender tag calls Wide Sill Molding. I removed the molding and saved but after the restoration and paint job I decided to leave them off. This molding is chrome 1" wide and runs just under the door and then forward to the fender and backwards to the rear quarter panel. I was considering reinstalling but here's my question why would these be different lengths? One is 75.5" the other 73.75". I'm checking to see if others have experienced this or know if they are is supposed to be different lengths. My gut tells me somewhere in the car's history one of these may have been damaged and was replaced with a different size than the original. Any thoughts? Do you think if I installed them the 1.75" difference would be noticeable?

Thanks

Bruce

Possibly the shorter one is broken and missing a piece? What is the trim made of?

It’s aluminum all one piece with rounded edges just shorter. See picture.

Most likely the shorter version is from the Standard 108" Wheel Base Valiant and the long one is for the 111" wheelbase Scamp or Valiant 4 door model.

Good call just curious how I ended up with different ones. This was my sister in laws car and as I recall no accidents etc. Oh well I’ll deal with it somehow and make something work. Thanks for the replies.
