Hello,

I am looking to pull off the hood emblem on my 62 dart in order to dip it in paint thinner then remove the paint from the chrome. After removing the hood latch and looking inside the access holes it appears that this is just pressed into two retaining clips. This would make sense as there is no access point for the rear attachment point and there was a similar system for the rear emblem.

For the rear there was one sheet metal "nut" and the other side was pressed into a circular retaining clip. I removed the nut, then gently pried out the emblem using a brass wedge. Has anyone delt with this? Do I just need to pry up on the front emblem?

Sincerely,

Paul

Possibly.

A picture of what the emblem studs look like on the backside of the panel could help me understand what'cha got there. Use a plastic pry stick.. I use the ones from the glass company.. they work great.

Hi Greg,

I'll see if I can get a photo, but it will be difficult. The posts do not have access directly underneath, you have to remove the hood latch and then you can kind of see the posts in the dark. I am pretty sure you are supposed to pry on it, but I will wait until I go to paint before remove it at this point.

Paul
