Curious if anybody has seen this done. Not sure how best to get a useful wider (4"+) road race stance on a 62 Lancer besides just tacking on fender flares. The rear wheel arches being so iconic of the model, I'd like to build on them rather cover them up. Any pics appreciated.

I have heard of people pushing out the rear fenders a bit but no where near 4". Are you wanting to do both front and rear?

What would Ian Roussel do (Full Custom Garage)?

Cut it right down the middle and add a slice!

4" would be the min to make it worthwhile.
And yes the front, but that would be with CF fenders, rear will be likely be out of steel, or graft on a composite flare not sure, still trying to get a concept.

New glass becomes the biggest issue with a center cut I believe. On a full size 62 Dart I was toying with cutting the tops of the centers of the four fenders front to back and adding 2" ea side full length of the car. That was the biggest negative cut/change I believe Exer felt they made to his original wider design after he departed Mopar.

Sounds cool, and I would go 2" wheel opening mods on each side. Mark Charapich is working on this, but maybe not 2" more like 1".

One question is why... If you have not put big sticky tires on one of these cars yet, then you should do that first. They handle really well if the suspension and steering are all in good shape and you just add some better shocks and front sway bar. They already look super cool (or super ugly to some)...
