Very cool, Rick. Glad you are pursuing your dreams and making them happen, one shift linkage at a time. I want a ride in that car!!

Looking good.

You may want to order those loose parts for the 833 from brewer's instead of passion in the future.

Get that 4-speed od in there and prepare to go slooow.

But hey you can run on I70 / 81 for more than 1 minute and keep up with traffic in the OD gear!

I tried Brewers and they do no have the 1/2 shift fork in stock. And they had no used stock.

It will be interesting to see just how much slower it is. In a really light car with 275 ish HP, I don't think it will be nearly as bad as it would be in a 3500 truck with 100 hp. Maybe some day I will run into a Tremec TKO or something for cheap. Then I will have to cut up the cross member.......etc. More project creep. :D :D

My only debate is with how low of a gear to run. It will be at least 4.10, but 4.30 and 4.56 are a possibility.

that's an easy swap if you have 3 little piggies built.

3.73s are good to cruise to Sebring, FL or Woodburn, OR and back at 75+ MPH. I'd start with 4.10s and see how they fly, if in stock already, or just stick with your 4.30s.

I was leaning towards the 4.10 also. I can test the 4.30s but they are on a spool. I also have 4.56s but they sing a bit too much for a a long term solution.

Doesn't the OD trans have a 3.09 1st gear? With a 4.56 you should drag the back bumper.

Yes it does, And so does the non OD 833 that I have out of the early 6 cylinder cars.

Tore apart, cleaned, lubricated two 4 speed Hurst shifters. Also welded on half nuts and tapped the main body for stops. These old Competition plus shifters didn't have them. They do now! :D

Where is that old shirt I had? "Shift as hard as you like, but don't break your wrist!" :D
