Yeah toothed V Belt, Almost everything is toothed either in the inside or the outside of the belt. These were on the inside. It just cuts down on the cross section of the belt a lot. The solid belt is noticeably stiffer. Time will tell if it works long term.

Alt /water pump belt flipping over is not uncommon, when reving a slant six. That is a long span when using the passenger side alternator mount. With my 170 (which uses a slightly shorter belt) I used to carry 3 spares. Once it flips, it's done. It would usually flip just about 6800-7000 rpm. In my opinion, the easiest fix is to use the low mount driver side alt mount (if you have room).

Then I would say, it is either alignment, or as you surmised, the belt itself. I would suggest you carry a spare belt, just in case. There are several different lengths possible, the odds of finding one at the track, it your vacates the engine compartment, are not the greatest.

I always carry spare belts.

Serpentine belt would require lots of changes due to the balancer and external oil pump drive.

Glad to say that the car had a very uneventful 2 days of racing at London last weekend, which is good. I am happy to report that the "solid" lawn mower belt worked like a charm and gave me no issues at all. I made a first pass at @ 5900 rpm as a precaution but then went ahead with my normal 62-6300 all the rest of the weekend.

The car ran 12.96, 12.83, 12.95, 13.02,13.01, 12.93 Saturday night!

Car also ran it's best ever 1/4 mile MPH- 103.0, best 1/8th mile ET- 8.06, and best 1/8 MPH 84.07

Had a great time with old friends and family! But 11 hour trips make for a long drive home!

awsome! great to be running at the end of the season!

After seeing the Aussie engine build and the fact that the chokes in their Webers were 36's; and the change to 40's made quite a difference; I decided to pull one of mine apart and see what was in them. To my surprise they were only 36's! I am hoping that a change to the 40's will gain me some horsepower too. Don't know that it will but I am hopeful. Getting on the web to get them ordered now. Now I can't wait till March!
