I will say that if it didn't go north of 300 you might as well toss it in a dumpster.

HP or Torque…? :?

Never mind… We’re good on both counts…

Looking forward to my visit with Howard tomorrow.

It’ll cause me a little concern at first, but I plan to let it fly…. I s’pose…

I’ll leave the 7000 chip in it though I think… Maybe 7200…

One honest bit of advice Rob, if you don't wear ear plugs in the car now, start.

Good advice. Will do.

I’ll post more later about the changes Howard and crew made and the things they discovered.

That dyno time sure is a great tool to figure things out. No way I would have ever gotten it where it is without Howard’s help.

I was mistaken about the initial pull power numbers… It was even worse… :(

They put it on the dyno just like I dropped it off (just like the doo doo at London).

They aborted that pull at 4000 RPM when the HP was only at 116.7!
It was the torque that was around 150 (153.2)… :(

Things Howard, Chuck and Tommy changed:

Replaced stock distributor with locked one and a crank trigger.
Adjusted timing from 36 to 23 (where the engine seems happiest now)
Basically gutted the Ron’s Flying Toilet “Pill Box” and installed an in-line quick-change Kinsler pill holder.
Replaced long tube headers with shorties (gasket was leaking as well)
Re-worked all the oil and fuel lines, remounted oil and fuel pumps.
Replaced wire connectors at coil and wired crank trigger, etc.
This is a very abbreviated list and doesn’t account for all the time and effort Howard put in. I’m forgetting things too, I’m sure.

Weight savings so far:

Long tube headers were 36 lbs compared to shorties at 20 = 16 lbs
Exhaust pipes at 22 lbs will be replaced with something much lighter = ??
Fittings and lines= 5 lbs
I will be replacing the radiator and water pump with smaller, lighter ones = ??
I plan to replace the funky monkey bar halo roll cage pieces with simple door bars = ??

We all assumed that replacing the old style Ron’s vane style fuel pump with the new Waterman pump would require a leaner set up. However, I was running a 96 pill when I went 7.49 last year. It is now happiest with a 70 pill!
So it wanted quite a bit More fuel!

I will try to make/find time to get the Challenger put back together.
Hoping to make some passes in 2022.

I understand! Now that you have lots of HP you aren't going to go racing! :D :D Sorry, Couldn't help myself. :D I hope it runs as well as you hoped it would.

Well,… the engine made good power on the dyno… no promises now that it’s back in my Poser hands…

Do you remember if the new headers were 1 1/2" or 1 5/8" OD?
