I can't quite tell from the pics, but it looks like you do not have an accel or decal baffle in there. Maybe when you hit the brakes or accel WOT it uncovers the pickup? Anyway, I would try 6 or 7 qts. Can you take it out on the road somewhere and nail it and then hard brake?

yes it is baffled, just showed some pictures of constructing it! i have two pan`s like, one has a stock pickup with a trap door that handles accel and decal also front and rear baffles the other has a swinging pickup haven`t used this one racing yet! just finished going through the engine for this weekend. got the dist set at 18degs had it at 22degs at the track had too pull it and drop it to get the timing back. had a bad surge at idle noticed that when timing is 24degs or more the engine surges, I have the vac adv hookup which bring the timing up to 38degs, this new cam with 114degs lobe separation seems to want less timing than the 108deg cam that it replaced. retorqued the head got a lot of turns on some studs set at 75ftlbs. lash was still dead on int .016/ex .020 those locknut are working great.

Cool swinging pickup pan! I bought one of those pickups a while back, but have never tried it. Not sure it would hold up to long term street usage.

Thanks for posting the pics...

another race weekend and rain!! Saturday!! Sunday was great got somethings straighten out, started with 18degs timing with a 7.17et , then 15degs and a 7.25et. so when back to 22degs but I also pushed launch rpm to 3500 which gave me a 7.09et so last run with the same 3500rpm launch got a 7.02et!! fastest yet. this 6.90et is fighting me for sure! :| https://youtu.be/0U042Q4i9Vg watching video looks like 80psi oil pressure and 12 to 13 psi boost! oil pressure still having a wide swing not sure if cutting the 3 coils off the pressure spring has any thing to do with that??

Very cool! What material did you use for the grill?

I need to make one for the Challenger.
