Thanks Sandy! It actually looks better in person. Can't wait to hook up the race car and drag it somewhere! I'm sure it will tow better than before.

And I forgot, the drop shackles, lowered the truck just about 1 1/4" at the wheel opening. If I put the bumper on and 15 gallons of gas I should be at just about the ride height I wanted.

Good news for new years! I think.

Well as you know I have had a serious smoking problem ( the truck not me! ) ever since I fired up the motor in the truck. I had decided to just reassemble the truck and run it for a while and see what happened. Well I kept using the "old" gas out of the tank until I got close to empty and then I put 12 gallons of premium in the tank. Guess what, no more smoke to speak of! I hesitated to say anything, because every time I do, then my problems resurface. But I have run the truck up to full temperature 3 times and ran it around my development multiple times, and I think it is cured. I guess that old gas was the culprit. Maybe someone snuck over and pored some 2 cycle oil into the gas!

That is good news Rick!

Old gas does weird things. When I put new gas in my 340 truck I had to pull timing out of it to get it to turn over.

Yes, but what is really weird is that it definitely had blue smoke! I even got a picture. It definitely had a foul smell too! I will take it either way.

It is really funny, but I thought you would say something like that! Are you sure we ain't related?

He does sell 2 cycle oil though? Maybe I better watch him a little closer. He definitely will not be driving it.

I completed about 20 little things that needed to be done and then I drove it over to the garage and left it there this evening. Tomorrow it gets an "Enhanced" inspection and if all is well, I can take the title and some picture and paperwork from the garage up to our local PA State messenger service in order to get new plates, registration, and a new title. I could be on the road by Saturday.

I cleaned and repainted the door panels. (Not the greatest) If anyone knows where you can get new ones let me know.

I also made a filler panel for between the radiator and the radiator support. I found this cool paint that says it looks like "anodized" over top of chrome, so I bought a can. And low and behold it looks really good. I painted my chrome air cleaner lid as well as the aluminum filler panel and they both came out great.

The interesting thing is that on the mid 70s truck that is where they put the radiator overflow tank or a flap to cover the gap between the radiator and the grille. I just have the flap.

Yes all our 80's trucks have a plastic flap there. But most of them get brittle and broken. My aluminum one acts as a radiator support for the top of the radiator too.
