My 76 flap isn't plastic. It is that fibrous rubber material that Mopar used as air shielding and sound deadening under the hood and in the fenderwell areas. It is flexible but can tear. I also still have the original flaps on the frame rails.

My '83 had the rubbery thingy too. It was roached so I threw it away. I was going to do something like what Rick did, just not so fancy looking. :D

The truck is looking awesome. Very good work. I look forward to seeing it at Mason-Dixon. I am impressed with the anodized look spray paint you discovered. I would like to try it. Could you post a pic of the can and who sells it?

Thanks Ron

Here is what the blue looks like. I don't have a good chrome Valve cover, so I am going to see what it looks like over "bright" silver paint. I will let you know.

I am glad that the truck passed the enhanced inspection without a hitch and now is officially back on the road. Now I can tinker with some more small things I want to do to it. I am really pleased with how the engine runs. It pulls nice and strong.

I am going to need a new or excellent shape 500 Edelbrock carburetor for on it. I am running a 600 now with the secondaries disconnected. It is the carb that had the fluttering issue on my race car so I will not keep it long term.

Greg, I am glad it is almost finished. It has been an awful lot of work and it took me just about 1 1/2 years. No phoenix or anything on the hood! I paid to have the ram ornament and the letter holes as well as the side emblem holes all welded shut. I like the "less is more" line of thinking for now.

Yes in PA, a regular inspection station can not do the enhanced inspection. They have to have a bunch of "special" equipment and get official status from the state to do them.

It is basically a very thorough inspection of everything, which I think is a good thing. Once they have the enhanced station they can do, wrecked vehicles, flood vehicles, new construction kit cars or modified street rods. On my truck everything was pretty straight forward because nothing, safety wise, was changed.

Hitch is already on the truck and she is ready to tow!!

The Metalcast, "anodized" look paint is available on Summit. They do have about 8 colors. One of them is a "smoke" gray. Wish I would have seen that before I painted mine red.

The red also brightens up faded tailight lens, one coat and still lets plenty of light tru.

cool Mark! And just for reference, I sprayed an old valve cover with "bright" aluminum paint and then sprayed a couple of coats of the red over top of it and I thought it looked good. I'll post a picture after the blizzard is over. Now I guess I will have to blast it and then clean it up right. Then it will look even better.
