I am in need of just the main caps for a cast crank block. Maybe someone has a junk block that still has good caps. Surface rust OK, but no spun bearings and over heated caps. I'll pay shipping to Tulsa OK.
Unless someone can tell me the forged and cast crank have the same main caps for #2 main?

would it not be cheaper/easier to get another block with matching caps? Your existing block will need to be line bored/honed if replacing the cap. Of course if you have other extensive work done to your block, that is another consideration.

Charrlie_s: That is exactly right. I have the block already bored 85 over, decked, and extensive work done on the oiling system, not to mention lots of weight reduction. I wiped out #2 main bearing, but it did not spin. It did get hot and the cap just fell off when I took the nuts off. So the cap is now loose in the registers. I don't mind line honing/boring to get it back to where it needs to be. I can save the crank, but I also have another one I can use if need be. I could go with 440 caps, but that just seems like more of a headache.

I think the main failure mode was detonation and heat. There were strips of bearing material in the pan where the bearing material extruded between the cap and crank cheek. I was racing back-to-back-to-back rounds. Maybe too much?

I did a quick search for the part number, but nothing popped up. Not sure if I have a block w/caps or not.

What did the engine power guys do on their build.
I remember some aluminum spacers they did on the crank, but don't remember why.
I saw main bearing caps on ebay, but they are forged crank parts.

Those guys put a forged crank in a cast block. The spacer located the thrust bearing.
