I'm in need of a big bore head gasket and finding out they are no longer avialble, my bore is 3.474" head has 1.700 in, 1.440"ex valves. I have slight notching in the sides of combustion chamber from machine work which is leaving the felpro gasket exposed, core shift is also a problem with gasket not being aligned on dowel pins closely enough. So felpro @ 3.520" is not going to work, it will but not for long. If any one has one or two that you would be willing to sell let me know . My investingation with the Aussie suppliers turned up 0 results. Copper is an option but really a last resort.

I hope you can find some, but the supply is drying up.
I wish we could get a US supplier to build us some.
Group buy would help for sure.
I assume if 50 would commit to 2 each that would be 100 gaskets.
Sounds reasonable to me.

Using a factory steel shim gasket and hogging out to fit the valve notches is what I would do. There are folks on here who will likely sell you those gaskets, I'm pretty sure.

I have done many group buys over the years for various Slant 6 parts, and I am not in a position to do that right now. That would be a good way to do it. Talk to a manufacturer and big bore gaskets and see what they say. I would say 100 gaskets would be very possible, if they are not too expensive. Ryan Covalt had custom MLS gaskets made and they would be tough as nails and can even be reused, but they will be around $200/gasket even if doing a relatively large order.

Hope this helps,
Lou

Thank you for the thoughts Hyper_Pak & Lou If any one would Be up To the Group Buy that would be great. I would use the Steel the gasket for sure if someone would be willing to part with one. I have heard the bore dia to be 3.500" or 3.560" If it is 3.560" and one were available that would be a done deal.
Thanks again George

I may have one at my shop. I got a bunch of gaskets from Mike Jeffrey when he retired, and most of his stuff was 3.500" bore. If I get down there this weekend I will look.

Honestly, if you are not boosting it or running high CR or N2O, and your timing is good (30 deg max advance at WOT), the Felpro will probably work fine. I have had fire ring hanging into combustion chamber on a hard-used 225 with 10+:1 CR and it lived just fine. Only time I blew one was with boost and no intercooler or Meth/water injection and in hot weather...

Ryan still had some MLS gaskets available. If you are interested send me a PM and I will get you his number. He had big bore ones made but I’m not sure what he has left. They were $229 when he sold them last.

Big bore head gaskets can be easily had in copper for a reasonable price from Copper Gaskets Unlimited --> https://coppergaskets.us/

Yes the copper is available. Getting it to seal and not get water in the oil is another story? :D

PS. If someone decides to get a group buy together and get some new ones made I would definitely take several.

Like wise on the group buy for the big bore head gasket, copper is great when both are surface ground! I'm also running higher coolant sytem pressures For A/C. Thanks to all for your imput.
