So were there AL blocks made in G and RG?

I always thought all AL blocks were 225's

That is within reasonable driving distance for me.

I had never heard of a aluminum 170, but that doesn't mean there were none. If you look at the picture of the two blocks, there are differences. One thing I noticed was the lack of the alternator mounting bosses on the "new" engine, where the other engine has them. Also the "new" block seems to have a lower deck with respect to the timing cover mounting.

That's stunning!!!! That IS a cast Al-U-minimum 170/low deck, early alternator would've been Dr. side, so no drilled boss(es)...??? WOW, I'm about to grab another iron one, if You grab that Greg We need details!!!
