Well my slant rebuild is coming along nicely.
Today I degreed the dang thing and got the head put back together. I ready to bolt everything back together.
I've milled a total of .100 off the deck and head
so I could raise compression. Is there an easy to order pushrod for this setup, or do you have a neat quick and easy trick to measure the proper length I'll need...

thanks,

DI - Comp and a few others sell adjustable pushrods available at you local speedshop. But the easy way is to cut a push rod (take out a 1/4" section), tap it for a stud on both sections, install said stud and use a locknut. I would guess you need a shorter pushrod to match the amount of milling, but using the adjustable let's you verify the geometry is correct.

That's what I have, a "home-made" adjusting pushrod. I have a couple of lock nuts on the one I have. I get everything set-up and use the "test pushrod" to find a good length. I lock it down and send it off to Smith Brothers and tell them to make 12-14 to the "sample length". ( I usually get a couple of extras - so make 14)

A few days later I have a new set of "prefect length" pushrods and they return my test unit in the box.
